Harry Tinsky, 99, of Niles, died Saturday of renal failure. He spent most of his working life as a cabdriver and salesman. His longevity attracted Harvard medical scholars, who studied his and his siblings’ DNA to try to discover the secrets to a long life. Mr. Tinsky attributed it to not drinking, not smoking and not “fooling around.” He was born in London and came to America when he was 5 years old. When he sold hats in Chicago, Mr. Tinsky said one of his customers was mobster Al Capone. He is survived by three sisters, two daughters, eight grandchildren and 15 grandchildren. Services were held Monday.
