Samuel Stephens, 97, a pharmaceutical pioneer who operated a drugstore, died Monday in his home. Mr. Stephens ran the Stephens’ Prescription Pharmacy on East 61st Street for 55 years, where he developed a brand of natural products for skin, scalp, feet, muscles and joint ailments. His college, the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy, recognized him in 1992 as its oldest working graduate. Mr. Stephens also co-founded the South Side Gospel Church in 1947. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services are pending.
