After watching the Mike Ditka debacle on TV, I wonder why the Cubs organization would even allow a “guest conductor” not to attend the game. Sure, every Chicagoan wants to see someone like Coach Ditka sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” but all celebrities chosen to sing should have the courtesy to attend the game. If Ditka doesn’t even want to spend a couple of hours at the ballpark, then we true baseball fans don’t want to hear them sing and he doesn’t deserve the honor of filling in for Harry Caray.
If Harry were alive today, he probably would have told “Da Coach” to head back to the golf course.
