Norbert Spevak, 87, who rose from bookkeeper to senior vice president during his six-decade career with the former Capitol Federal Savings and Loan Association, died Wednesday in Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Mr. Spevak of Hickory Hills began at Capitol Federal in 1929 and learned the real estate appraisal trade from senior employees with whom he apprenticed. When Capitol ran a full-page ad in Newsweek magazine in the 1970s, Mr. Spevak was pictured as the company spokesman. He had been a vice president for many years when he retired in 1988, and he served as president of the South Lawndale Crawford Real Estate Board of Chicago. Survivors include three sons, Norbert Jr., Richard and Alan; two brothers, Frank and Otto; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday in Hickory Hills.
