Allen E. Terman, 78, of Highland Park, the owner of a firm that manufactures carrying cases for cameras, cassette tapes and videotapes, died Monday in Highland Park Hospital. He owned Casemakers Inc., a La Grange Park company whose products were carried nationwide by major retailers. In the 1940s, Mr. Terman owned Club Silhouette, a popular jazz nightclub in Rogers Park that featured rising young stars of the era, including Sarah Vaughan, Bobby Short and Billy Eckstine. A Chicago native, Mr. Terman was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lucille; two sons, James and William; a sister, Joan Sanes; and four grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Piser Chapel, 9200 N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie.
