Students misbehaving on school buses beware: Your actions will be monitored by camera.

The school board of Joliet Township High School District 204 endorsed a proposal recently to buy and install cameras in all its buses in time for the new school year.

About 15 of the 60 district buses have cameras, said David Sellers, the assistant superintendent for business and personnel. The district will pay $23,005 for the cameras from Universal Coach Parts of Des Plaines. The district began installing cameras in selected buses about three years ago, Sellers said.

The cameras have been helpful in reviewing incidents and disciplining students, he said. As a result, they have been a deterrent to trouble, he said.
