Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This is in response to letter writer Justin O’Brien (Voice, July 11), who missed the Cubs’ Seventies Night because he could not afford the price tag of “$150 or more” (his estimate) for a family of five.

My 18 years experience of going to Cubs’ games yields a different bottom line.

Forty-five dollars will buy five upper-deck seats (less if kids are under 14); $5 to $10 for peanuts, Cracker Jack or other supermarket snacks; $5 for five 32-ounce drinks at the 7-Eleven store across from the field; zero for parking if you’re willing to walk a bit.

This may not be everyone’s ideal game plan, but it is one way to enjoy the purest pleasures of Wrigley Field.

As for souvenirs, the memories just may last a lifetime.
