Companies in the Great Lakes region should find it a little easier to trade with Argentina, Chile and South Africa beginning this fall.
The Council of Great Lakes Governors said Friday it will open trade offices in each of those nations. The council now has offices in Toronto and Sao Paulo, Brazil, to help small and medium-size companies export goods and services.
“This will give us a person on the ground in those areas of the world,” Gov. Jim Edgar said. “It will give us a contact.”
The announcement came at the council’s annual conference, held Thursday and Friday in the University Club in Chicago. Edgar as well as the governors of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin attended the event.
