A 22-year-old West Humboldt Park woman charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 1-year-old daughter was ordered held without bond Tuesday.
Prosecutors from the Cook County state’s attorney’s office said Cecelia Gutierrez, of 4106 W. Hirsch St., was an undocumented laborer from Mexico and posed a “serious risk of flight.”
Maria Herrera, who had her first birthday June 17, died July 20 from burns that police said she suffered last month when her mother allegedly left her alone in a hot bath in their home.
