The push to integrate more technology into classroom activities is moving along quickly, thanks to some grant funding, the Elementary District 159 School Board learned last week.
The district has been awarded a Technology Literacy Challenge Grant of $135,000 for software, computers, printers and staff development, according to administrator Linda Ytterberg.
The grant and adequacy funding, a one-time award from the state to school with low per-pupil expenditures, will both cover equipment and training, Assistant Supt. Pat Chesla said.
“We’re really pretty much stocked up with technology this year,” Chesla said.
