The well-dressed man plays to his options. The casual, end-of-week dress code is merely another opportunity to exercise them. This season a man can follow — or lead — many dress codes. The classic suit has been updated with a nod toward the British. Look for lightweight fabrics, plaids, tweeds and unconventional combinations. Even casual dress — a turtleneck sweater with a jacket, a three-quarter-length coat and a pair of oxfords, for example — is gentrified, but without stuffiness. Speaking of sweaters, a few of our guests model classic vests, lush cardigans and cozy, hooded knits. Also, the case for a winter hat wardrobe — translation: more than one — is worth making. Male vanity comes into play for a close shave. And a few parting words on pajamas: Who wears them anyway?
