Changes must be made to make PACE bus service useful to suburban senior citizens.

The biggest problem is that PACE’s three phone lines are often busy, making it difficult, if not impossible, for seniors to make appointments with doctors and other professionals when they can’t count on a ride.

Perhaps the ultimate irony is the bus never has more than three passengers, and often passes by frustrated wannabe riders who were unable to telephone in a reservation, or who were told they could not be accommodated.

Maybe PACE needs more than the one bus it has operated in Mundelein since it began service 10 years ago.
