The Chicago Fire won Major League Soccer’s championship in front of 51,000 at the Rose Bowl. Everyone seemed pretty happy about that, except D.C. United and Bernie Lincicome.
Bernie, apparently dispatched to Pasadena to make sure something–anything–negative would be said about America’s soccer championship, could barely find it in his churlish heart to congratulate the Fire. Instead, he wasted newsprint on yet another trite bashing of the world’s favorite sport, a sport that has routinely drawn more fans to Soldier Field this season than could fit in the United Center. Of course, there’s nothing happening at United Center.
Perhaps that’s why Bernie’s feeling so grumpy.
