Siemens restructures: German industrial conglomerate Siemens AG announced a drastic divestment program to shed businesses with annual sales of $10.19 billion and 60,000 employees. Siemens said it would take a $2.4 billion restructuring charge, and the company will take a $540 million charge against risks in “problematic economic regions.” The industrial giant said spin-offs would include its components operation, which employed 47,000 workers and had sales of $6.6 billion, and its cable division.
