Too often readers complain about Bernie Lincicome, Skip Bayless and Steve Rosenbloom. This is a disturbing trend. The three really shouldn’t be classified together.

Bayless and Lincicome have a cynical edge (although Bernie’s edge is about as easy to hide as Jerry Krause’s gut), but commentary on Chicago sports requires one. Without cynicism we would all sound as lame as Dave Wannstedt’s Pollyanna optimism.

But Rosenbloom is different. He isn’t a columnist–his words just happen to run in a column. Lincicome and Bayless have the ability to write paragraph after paragraph on the topic of the day.

Rosenbloom is lucky to be able to come up with three sentences on whatever topic captured his limited attention span. Worse, he beats running gags into the dirt. Do “the pieces are all in place,” the Hawks’ “organ-I-zation” and the daily Gary Barnett jokes still amuse Rosenbloom? If not, why must he subject us to them? And if so, can we find him some help?
