If you don’t know what it’s like to be killed softly by a song, maybe you need to catch some flack – Roberta Flack, that is. Kevin Iega Jeff’s homage to the soulstress tops off “An Evening of Deeply Rooted Dance,” which opens with “The Dance We Dance,” a six-part suite interpreting the evolution of a soul. Next on the dance group’s progam, Flack herself will sing early songs like “Trying Times” and “Ballad of the Sad Young Men” while accompanied by Deeply Rooted Productions’ Dance Theatre Ensemble. It’s at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Parkway. Seats for the performance only are $25-$60 through Ticketmaster (312-902-1500); more expensive benefit tickets are available, too. Call 773-973-3337 for more info.
