Throughout the day Saturday, international music will be featured during the MOKENA PARK DISTRICT’S SECOND ANNUAL ETHNIC FEST, starting with Irish dancers from the Weber School at 11:30 a.m. and continuing through the night with the Parkette Dancers, the Silk and Thistle Scottish Dancers, Fermilab International Entertainment, Royale Polynesian and Fire Dancers, Nuevo Mariachi Jalisco, the Polish Highlanders, Teresa Los Preferidos Flamenco Dancers, Yeh Mon — Jamaica’s One Man Band, and Jimmy’s Bavarian Authentic Lederhosen Band. In St. Coletta’s Rubber Duck Derby, hundreds of ducks will be dumped into a pond for a race that will be powered by the water action of the local fire department’s hoses. For $5, a person can adopt a duck to race. The “parents” of the 10 winning ducks will be eligible to win a $25,000 cash prize, a hot tub, a mountain bike, airline tickets, $1,000 in gift certificates for pizza or $500 in gas from a local gas station. Proceeds of the contest benefit St. Coletta’s, a Palos Park-based social service agency for people with developmental disabilities. The derby is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of the Palos Hills Friendship Fest. The festival, featuring carnival rides, crafts, pony rides, a petting zoo, an Elvis impersonator, bingo, a jumping jack, live music and food booths, is scheduled for 5-11 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m.-midnight Saturday and 3-10 p.m. Sunday.
