Leaving Java: Sun Microsystems Inc. said that its point person for commercializing a key programming language resigned to take a position at an investment bank, after only a month at the helm of Sun’s software division. Alan Baratz joined an affiliate of investment bank Warburg, Pincus & Co. Baratz was for three years the president of Java Software, overseeing Sun’s efforts to extend the firm’s Java programming language into wider use. He became head of the new software division about a month ago.
