Joyce A. Blair, 43, died Monday in her Elgin home of complications from lung cancer. Mrs. Blair, who was born in Blackwell, Okla., was a registered nurse at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, for the last two years. Mrs. Blair was previously a forensic nurse at the Elgin Mental Health Center for nearly 10 years. She studied nursing at Elgin Community College. “She was a very strong person, very loving and caring,” said her husband, Dr. Joseph Blair, who is on the staff of Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. “She was devoted to her children and her career. She brought a lot of joy to a lot of people. She will truly be missed.” Other survivors include a son, Dane Lund; a daughter, Alexandra; her parents, Orval and Dorothy Talbott; a sister, Wilma Applewhite; and two brothers, Roy and John Talbott. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Laurence Catholic Church, Jewett and Standish Streets, Elgin.
