Eugene “Slick” Ciancanelli, 82, a Chicago Heights steelworker, died Sunday in St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Born in Chicago Heights, Mr. Ciancanelli was a shear operator at Calumet Steel Co. in Chicago Heights. He worked for the company for 32 years before retiring in 1979. An Army veteran, he served in anti-aircraft artillery during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy; a daughter, Janet; one sister; one brother; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Panozzo Brothers Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St., Chicago Heights. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Kieran Church, 195th and Halsted Streets, Chicago Heights.
