Kevin Garnett scored 29 points and Minnesota took advantage of Tim Duncan’s absence to edge San Antonio.
Malik Rose’s three-pointer with 2.8 seconds pulled the Spurs to 100-98, but Terrell Brandon answered with two free throws with 2.1 seconds left.
David Robinson led the Spurs with 29 points as Duncan missed his second straight game because of a lower abdominal strain.
For a while it looked as though the Wolves would rout the Midwest Division leaders as Garnett had 19 points in the first half.
