Police called to investigate a disturbance at a second-floor apartment in the 300 block of Wellington Avenue early Monday said a 23-year-old woman was injured by an unidentified assailant. Officers entered the woman’s apartment about 3 a.m. and found her bleeding from the mouth, police said. She was treated for cuts and bruises to the face at Sherman Hospital and later released. Officers said a door to the woman’s apartment appeared to have been kicked open, but added they were still investigating whether a person known to the victim caused the attack. Police said a hammer found inside the apartment may have been used in the attack.
