Steven Levasseur, 50, of Glenview, who oversaw transitions in various departments at Cook County Hospital, died in his sleep Tuesday, June 6, of heart disease. He received a degree in zoology from the University of New Hampshire and did postgraduate work there before moving to DePaul University. At DePaul, he earned an MBA and a master’s degree in biology and was certified as a financial planner. “He was very much a man who lived in the present. When he made choices, he was prepared to deal with the consequences,” said his sister Joanne Blodgett. Mr. Levasseur was an avid fly fisherman who believed in nature conservation and always released the fish he caught back into the streams. Mr. Levasseur also enjoyed skiing and cooking, and he was especially good at making sauces and French recipes. For more than 25 years, Mr. Levasseur worked for Cook County Hospital, originally doing research in endocrinology and later managing re-engineering projects, which involved helping departments and employees deal with a wide range of changes, including moving to the hospital’s new building. Mr. Levasseur is also survived by his companion of 12 years, Debbie Sutter; his mother, Edith; and a brother, Don. Services are set for Friday at 4:30 p.m. in N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview.
