An Aurora teen was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threw a handgun out of a car window while officers were attempting to make a traffic stop, police said. Jose Angel Cabrera, 17, of the 500 block of Hinman Street was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and not having a firearm owner’s identification card. Police said they were attempting to stop a car after noticing it was speeding near Pleasant Place and Melrose Street. The vehicle had slowed down after police activated their overhead lights and the car’s dome light came on. Police said they heard and saw something hit the ground, and the vehicle continued speeding north on Pleasant Place. The car turned west onto Parker Avenue and continued until police stopped the vehicle at Parker, west of Gates Street. Police said they found a .22-caliber handgun off the roadway.
