Board members of Orland Park-based Consolidated High School District 230 have formalized an agreement with two other governmental bodies to fight tax appeals by property owners.
At their meeting Monday in Stagg High School in Palos Hills, school board members voted unanimously to approve the agreement with Elementary School District 135 and the Orland Fire Protection District. The agreement has been in effect informally for more than a year, said Mike Frances, District 230 controller.
The agreement covers only those properties within the boundaries of all three agencies, he said.
“This puts it in a more formal manner,” he said.
At their last meeting, board members voted to fight the assessment appeal by owners of land at 10205 S. 86th Ter. in Palos Township, an appeal that, if successful, could cost the district $90,000 in tax revenue.
The property was assessed at $4.3 million and the owners are seeking a reduction to $2.5 million, he said.
