Jon Phillip Olson, 61, of Elgin, will face a bond hearing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Chicago after turning himself in Saturday to the Aurora Police Department on a federal warrant alleging he robbed Bank One, 1600 Larkin Ave., Elgin, on Thursday. Olson allegedly entered and handed the teller a note that read, “Voices in my head are telling me I need money. So give some or else. I’m robbing this bank. I need $2,500 now,” according to Mary Lynn Voros, FBI public affairs representative. The teller handed over $500 and a dye packet and Olsen left on foot. No weapon was displayed, nor was there a threat of one, according to U.S. Atty. Larry Beaumont. Olson was identified from a still picture taken from the bank’s surveillance video by the director of Maplewood Care Center, a nearby nursing home where Olson is currently a resident.Olson was handed over to the FBI on Monday and on Tuesday was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
