Sophia Maria Arnold, age 91, of Buhl, MN, and formerly of Chicago, IL, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000, in the Mesabi Nursing Home in Buhl, MN, she was born September 6, 1909 in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Franz Joseph and Bitte Haegele. She attended High School in Germany and went on to attend McCormick College in Chicago, IL. She was married to George R. Arnold on September 11, 1931 in Chicago, Il. Sophia worked as an insurance underwriter in the Chicago area and was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons George R. Arnold, of Chisholm, MN, and Don C. Arnold of Chicago, IL; daughter-in-law Jessie Arnold of Side Lake, MN; seven grandchildren Michelle Arnold, Michael Arnold, Timothy Arnold, Kristina McGlaun, Rebecca Arnold-Sauer, Matthew Arnold and Deborah Toma; 10 great-grandchildren; Jillian Arnold, Michael Arnold Jr., Cheyenne McGlaun, Abigail Arnold, Darby Sauer, Lucy Martin, Jacob Toma, Joshua Toma, Kaleigh Arnold and Hailey Sauer; she was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; and daughter Barbara Wrigley. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 6 p.m. October 13, 2000 at St. Catherine-St. Lucy Catholic Church, Oak Park, IL. 708-386-8077. Interment private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
