Andrew Bagnato may wish to spend a little more time researching the teams on which he reports. The Wisconsin Badgers team he said can compete for the title of “most overrated” lost to Northwestern not because they were outplayed (which they were) but because their best defensive player (Jamar Fletcher) and one of their top offensive players (Chris Chambers) were still serving those silly suspensions. In an overtime contest, one play by one of those playmakers could have broken the game open.

In their first game with all their players back following that humiliating loss, and with a reshuffled offensive line that had just lost 31/2-year starter Dave Costa, the Michigan Wolverines needed a fluke play and a missed Wisconsin field goal to beat the Badgers in Ann Arbor.

I hate making excuses, and I refused to do so all season. However, Mr. Bagnato’s low blow was more than this team deserved . . . it had previously suffered through at least 26 low blows to start this season.
