The Gurnee Plan Commission has recommended approval of two plans for outdoor dining at village restaurants.

Khayat Enterprises, a Lake County-based restaurant group, plans to add an outdoor dining area to In-Laws, 720 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The 20-seat space would be surrounded by landscaping and a solid wood fence and only be accessible from the main dining room, representatives said.

The commission also recommended approval of a proposal by Landry’s Seafood Illinois Inc. to include an outdoor dining area at a Joe’s Crab Shack planned for a commercially zoned property at 5626 Northridge Drive.

The area would seat about 76 people and only be open during warm-weather months. Plan commissioners recommended that seating be reduced from 92 seats to widen the landscape buffer.

All outdoor dining areas in Gurnee require a special-use permit from the Village Board.
