Rev. William L. Slikas, 65, pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Joliet, entered Eternal Life on Sunday, October 22, 2000. He was born in Chicago on July 29, 1935 to the late Leo and Sophia, nee Ambrose, Slikas; beloved brother of Dorothy Shenko; dear uncle of Kevin (Janice Buckingham) Shenko and Janice Shenko; great-uncle of John William and Jenna Shenko. Following ordination to the priesthood on June 7, 1986 he was assigned to a number of parishes throughout the Joliet Diocese. Rev. William L. Slikas will lie in state at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St., Joliet, on Tuesday, October 24 from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with the Most Rev. Joseph L. Imesch, Bishop of Joliet, presiding. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Cross Church would be appreciated.
