Dr. George S. George, who died in Denver, Colorado, on April 17, 2000, practiced pediatrics in Chicago for 50 years. He was a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in WWII at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, he served as president of the medical staff and was a life member of the Board of Trustees. He had a gift for healing and expressing deep compassion to family friends and patients. John G. Adinamis, one of Dr. George’s first patients, commented, “Dr. George was a second father to every patient and one to whom you could go to with problems. He assured with kind words yet maintained the demeanor and dignity of a great statesman.” Many in the Greek American community remember Dr. George as a kind man who did not withhold his gift: the extraordinary healing power of his hands and voice. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Stella, three children, Steve, Vivian, and Renee, and many other loving relatives.
