Another former driving-school instructor pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection with paying bribes to get unqualified students automatically passed on road tests at the scandal-ridden state driver’s license facility on Chicago’s West Side.
Manharbhai Patel, 47, of Addison pleaded guilty to lying to a federal grand jury about bribe-paying.
Patel is the 34th person convicted in the ongoing Operation Safe Road investigation of license-selling in the Illinois secretary of state’s office. U.S. District Senior Judge Milton Shadur set sentencing for Feb. 21. Patel faces up to 18 months in prison, Assistant U.S. Atty. Zachary Fardon said.
