Read any good books lately?

These readers have.

I read a really great book. It’s called “How to Eat Fried Worms” by Thomas Rockwell ($5). It’s about a boy who made a bet with friends that he could eat 15 worms for $50. My favorite part is when he ate his first worm and throws up everywhere. To find out if he gets the $50, you should read the book.

“Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio” by Peg Kehret ($6) is a touching story about a 12-year-old girl named Peg Schulze. Peg lives totally normally until she is diagnosed with polio. She has to learn to overcome the effects of polio so she can recover and return home. It’s a true story.

– Ashley L., 12, Northlake

“Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: 101 Stories of Life and Learning” ($13) is a heartwarming book. It consists of many different stories about teenagers. Some stories will make you laugh; others will make you cry.

– Kiran S., 14, Naperville

I read a book called “Ramona’s World” ($15 hardcover). Author Beverly Cleary tells a story about an average 9-year-old and her year in 4th grade. It’s a simple story, but a great read. Once you start reading it, you can’t put it down.

– Courtney V., 9, Park Ridge

Dig holes? I couldn’t stop reading a book called “Holes” by Louis Sachar ($6). Stanley is accused of stealing shoes. He went to court and was given the choice of jail or Camp Green Lake. He picked camp, but Stanley didn’t know they only dig holes there for the Warden. What could the Warden be looking for?
