Gertrude Fredd, age 103, blessed to have lived in three centuries, died peacefully following a brief illness on Jan. 3, 2001, preceeded in death by her husband of 72 years, the late James Turner Fredd; survived by her brother-in-law, J.B. Fredd; nieces, N.L. Fredd and Dr. Gloria Woolfolk; nephews, Judge Benjamin Travis and John A. Fredd Jr.; and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, goddaughters and extended family. She will always be in our hearts and memories. Visitation Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 at 10 a.m., funeral at 11 a.m. at Allen Metropolitan C.M.E. Church, 10946 S. Lowe Ave. Interment immediately following at Lincoln Cemetery, 123rd and Kedzie. Arrangements entrusted to Burton’s Funeral Home, 6217 S. Ashland. 773-434-5200.
