Mathilda Schirmer, 88, of Chicago, IL, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, loving sister of the late Helene (the late Homer) Martin; one niece, Charlotte Burr of California; two greatnieces, Wendy Burr and Brandi (Adam) Freese of California. A graduate of Northwestern University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mathilda was an art editor as well as a volunteer to many organizations, most recently the City of Chicago Dept. on Aging Renaissance Court. Mathilda was a member of the Senior Artists Network and exhibited her work in many of their shows. Mathilda received the Cook County Sheriff’s Senior Medal of Honor Award on April 19, 2000.
