William Mitsua Hiyane, died on Jan. 3 in his home in Arlington Heights. Born in Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands in 1932, Mr. Hiyane came to the mainland after serving in the armed services during the Korean War. A renowned specialist in the field of contact lenses, Bill was respected and loved by colleagues and clients alike. Bill Hiyane will be deeply missed. His positive spirit, his devotion, attentiveness and unconditional generosity to his family and friends will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew him. William Hiyane is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his daughter, Leandra of Florida; and his three sons, Chris, Steven and Robert, all from the Chicago area. He also has a sister and three brothers in Hawaii. A Service was held at the Olson Funeral Home in Chicago on Jan. 6.
