Richard D. “Capt. Dick” Rodseth,N. Muskegon, MI and St. Petersburg, FL, age 69, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in San Juan, PR after a short illness. He was born June 29, 1931 in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and owned and operated O.H. Rodseth Machinery Moving and Storage in Chicago until his retirement to the Muskegon area in 1983. Mr. Rodseth married Lillian Bleichroth on July 26, 1963 in Chicago. Dick was an avid sailor. He owned and raced his sailboat “Vagary”. He raced over 50 Chicago Mackinac Island Races, which made him a member of the “Old Goats Sailing Society”. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; four daughters, Dr. Jeanne Kellner of Burlington, VT, Linda (Marshall) Ricker of Whitehall, MI, Barbara (Michael) Barnhouse of Chicago and Olivia (Brett) Gillespie of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sons, Mark (Denise) Rodseth and Kristian Rodseth, both of Chicago; five grandchildren; and one sister. Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life at his family home in Muskegon on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Cleveland Clinic, Muskegon Rescue Mission, A Junior Sailing Program or your favorite charity.
