Elmer H. Bensen Sr., 73, of Fairbury, IL formerly of Chicago, died Friday January 26, in Memphis, TN of natural causes. Mr. Bensen was born on May 3, 1927 in Chicago. Son of Chris and Anne Bensen; he married Theresa Mackowiak on August 14, 1948; she died December 31, 1996. Mr. Bensen is survived by one son Elmer Jr. (Debbie) of Lake Villa, IL; two daughters Judith (Frank) Bednar of Fairbury and Catherine Bensen of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren Andy (Melissa) Larsen, Theresa and Sean Bednar, Tierney Bensen and Brandon Bensen of Lake Villa, IL; two great-granadchildren Lori and Eryn Larsen of Forest, IL; one brother Gerald Bensen of California; three sisters Lorraine and Elaine of McHenry, IL and June of Chicago, IL. Mr. Bensen retired from Cook County Forest Preserve in 1992 where he was employed for 20 years and 22 years from Schwinn Bicycle Company. Veteran of WWII. Memorials can be made to OSF Hospice or charity of donors choice. Interment will be private.
