Adolph M. Urbas, 85, aviation pioneer, resident of Fontana, WI, formerly of Medinah, IL, Jan. 24, after a long illness. A Trans World Airlines pilot for 34 years, he was recognized for setting a transatlantic crossing speed record in a Lockheed Constellation in 1954. Also a charter member of the OX5 Club of America, the pioneer aviator’s association, he purchased his first airplane in 1934, at the age of 19, a 1929 Waco with a 90HP V8 OX5 engine. He is survived by his wife, Jean E.; son, Robert M., an American Airlines pilot; daughter, Susan K.B., an environmental attorney; and sister, Helen Harris of Howell, MI. Memorial Service Friday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 420 Reed St. (corner Devil’s Lane), Walworth, WI, 262-275-3445.
