Eleanor L. Boak Franke, age 81, of La Crosse, WI, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center. She was born in Chicago on June 9, 1919 to Christopher G. and Mary, nee Robison, Boak. She married Robert B. Franke in La Crosse on June 29, 1961. Eleanor was a graduate of the University of Chicago and taught for 12 years in the La Crosse City Schools. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Catholic Women’s League. In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by one brother, Gordon R. (Lois) Boak; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Franke; three nieces, Suzanne (Kenneth) Sink, Marsha (James) Russell and Anne Franke; two nephews, Mark Franke and Glenn Franke; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; many dear friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, James Franke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1032 Caledonia St., La Crosse, Rev. Roger Scheckel and Rev. Paul Sankoorikal will concelebrate with burial to be in the Catholic Cemetery. The Blaschke Funeral Homes, La Crosse, are assisting with arrangements.
