A 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were injured Wednesday when they were struck by a car after that vehicle’s occupants jumped out during a police pursuit.

Three suspects in that car were in police custody Wednesday night.

The unidentified woman was in serious condition and the girl was in fair condition at Cook County Hospital. They apparently were taking garbage out when they were hit near the alley in the 4500 block of South Greenwood Avenue.

The car was being followed by two Prairie District officers who determined the 1994 Oldsmobile, with Indiana license plates, had been stolen about 3:40 p.m., said police spokesman Robert Cargie.

When the officers tried to pull the car over, the driver sped off and a few blocks later, the driver and two passengers jumped out. The victims were hit by the driverless car, Cargie said.
