A federal judge has postponed the surrender date of Dean Bauer, the former inspector general under Gov. George Ryan while Ryan was Illinois secretary of state.
Bauer, who was convicted of obstructing justice as a result of a federal licenses-for-bribes probe, had been scheduled to begin his prison term of 1 year and a day on Friday. That was postponed earlier this week because he had a recurrence of cancer, according to court records and prosecutors.
No new date has been set for Bauer to begin his sentence. A hearing is scheduled for June 13.
