After all of the events that have taken place in New York and Washington, I have found something almost as terrible.

We as Americans live in one of the best countries in the world. Countless people from other countries want to live here. We live here everyday. We can come and go as we please, visit other countries and always return.

The sad part is that for Americans to unite–not as white or black, rich or poor, but unite solely as Americans–it takes a disaster.

Now people fly the flag, crime rates have dropped, people say hello to strangers, the complaining about politics has stopped, the political party lines are gone, and we are truly proud and have a great love of where we live.

Why does it take a negative action for people to do these positive things?
