The Village Board voted recently to add the title of police commander to the village’s police force.
Police Chief Dan Palmer, who will appoint commanders, said the position was created “to provide more supervisory coverage.” Three current sergeants will be reclassified, he said.
“We have a lot more administrative needs than we used to,” Palmer said. “Two of the positions will be watch commanders, and the third will function as a detective commander,” he added.
