I am sick of hearing Donald Rumsfeld attribute blame to Osama bin Laden for civilian deaths in Afghanistan from errant U.S. bombs. In addition to his dubious rationalizing, Rumsfeld shows a profound lack of compassion for civilian Afghans, who are miserable pawns in a devastating game over which they have no control.
I wish Rumsfeld would accept responsibility for the tragic consequences, however unintended, of our chosen course of action.
