Since Sept. 11, I have wanted to open the paper to read some good news. Something that said, “We have turned the corner … things will be good, again.” However, between the world violence to man and beast, layoffs, cutbacks, corporate deceptions, bankruptcy filings and the spread of terrorism, I have hardly smiled.

But Jan. 23 was different. Amid all the world’s anguish, columnist John Kass not only made me smile, I laughed and laughed (“Can’t fool Brits: POW `torture’ is so tasteless,” News).

Thanks, John, for bashing those who would coddle evil.
