Edward V. Tetrev, 48, of Palatine, a former insurance agent, died of cancer Thursday, March 7, in his home. Born in Chicago and raised in Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights, Mr. Tetrev graduated from Arlington High School. Not long after he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, he became an agent in the reinsurance division of Kemper Insurance in Long Grove. In the late 1990s he left Kemper and briefly worked for Allstate Insurance in Palatine. Mr. Tetrev was always on hand if family members or close friends needed him, said his brother Dale. “When I was in the hospital, he would always stop by or call to see if I needed anything,” his brother said. Mr. Tetrev is also survived by his parents, Edward P. and Gloria; another brother, Duane; and a sister, Laura. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, when a service will begin in Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
