I have had enough of Steve Rosenbloom’s Mark McGwire bashing (Tribune, March 10). To keep comparing Barry Bonds to McGwire, just because McGwire did not relate to you great media guys–is he a sourpuss?
I don’t know what Rosenbloom has watched over the last few years, but when McGwire broke Roger Maris’ home run record, he went directly over to the Maris family and hugged them all, hugged teammates, thanked the city of St. Louis, gave part of his salary to abused children, and he’s a sourpuss? I think he showed class.
Sammy Sosa, on the other hand, almost left the Cubs because of what else? Money. But when he saw that no other team was going to pay him the crazy amount of money he wanted, he stayed in Chicago. Gee, what a nice guy.
Maybe Barry Bonds is a jerk, but don’t rank him with McGwire and make Sosa out to be Mr. Perfect.
