I find the Justice Department irresponsible in attempting to hold an entire firm (Andersen) responsible for the actions of some. Does Justice realize that this could impact tens of thousands of employees in an already weakened economy?
What a few Andersen partners and employees did may have been wrong, but then punish them and maybe fine the company. But to attempt to pull the plug regarding how a company makes its living is going too far. Are tobacco companies still making cigarettes? Is Firestone still making tires? Why shouldn’t Andersen be allowed to continue doing business?
