William L. Kaska, 83, of St. Charles, IL and Fort Lauderdale, FL, died peacefully in his sleep of heart failure on Monday, March 18, 2002, at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. Born in Chicago on March 8, 1919, Mr. Kaska lived in Oak Park, IL for 30 years and was active in many community groups including the First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ). Mr. Kaska was an engineer, and retired as President of Chicago Electric Company in 1985 after a 40 year career with the company founded in 1910 by his father. Bill was a private pilot and enjoyed sailing on Lake Beulah in Wisconsin at his family cottage. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Burden Kaska; a daughter, Jane Trombley of New York City; and sons, Charles B. Kaska of Santa Barbara, CA and Robert E. Kaska of St. Charles; and five grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Trombley, Benjamin Kaska, and Emma and Sullivan Kaska. Mr. Kaska was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy Ann Kaska; and his brother, Robert C. Kaska. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2002 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Purser officiating. Burial will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
